Taking the Soko train from Belgrade towards Novi Sad

The railway still makes Novi Sad an easy trip from Belgrade, but the current journey does not finish at Novi Sad’s main railway station. It uses Petrovaradin and a connecting bus into the city.

Choose the exact service

Use Srbija Voz ticketing for the current departure, class and fare. Soko services require a seat reservation under the timetable notes. Do not reuse the old EUR 6.20 figure; the booking result for your service is the useful current amount.

Other train types can also serve the corridor. Compare the complete timing, not only the fastest running time. A slightly slower service can be better if its shuttle and return fit the day.

Start at Belgrade Centar

Belgrade Centar is also called Prokop. It is not the intercity bus station and not the old former main railway building. Map the entrance and allow time to find the platform and carriage.

Belgrade’s free city transport can get you towards the station, but the intercity rail ticket remains a separate purchase.

Treat Petrovaradin as a connection

At Petrovaradin, follow the current shuttle instructions into Novi Sad. Confirm the city stop and the return shuttle before walking away. Keep enough margin for the transfer back to the station.

If Petrovaradin Fortress is the first stop, check whether going directly there makes more sense than travelling into the centre and back. Luggage changes that calculation.

Protect the return

Choose the return train before committing to a late meal or event. Recheck the shuttle and train together, and keep the booking confirmation available.
