Using buses and furgons in Albania
Confirm the terminal, departure and fare before using Albania's buses and shared minibuses between towns.
A furgon is a shared minibus, but the word does not tell you the timetable, comfort or booking method. Treat each journey separately. Some services have set departures, while others need a local check. Do not assume every van leaves only when full or that every route runs all day.
Start by confirming the departure place with your accommodation or the operator. Ask for the terminal name and a map pin, not simply “the bus station”. Tirana has different terminals for different destinations.
Find the correct departure point
Use the official eTransport planner to search current lines, stations and schedules. Save the station pin and the operator details, then confirm any local change before travel.
Tirana municipality lists the North and South Bus Terminal separately from the Southeast and International terminal information. Use those pages as orientation, then confirm current arrangements before travel.
Ask about the first useful departure and the last return. A published list may be older than the service you find on the ground. If you are making a day trip, the return check matters as much as finding a seat out of town.
Allow time to get across Tirana. A low intercity fare does not include the local journey to an outlying terminal.
Agree the practical details before boarding
Confirm the destination, total fare and any luggage charge. Carry local cash in sensible denominations when that is the accepted payment method. Keep documents, valuables and water in your small bag rather than putting everything with the main luggage.
Ask where the vehicle will stop in the destination town. If it is outside the centre, arrange the final walk or transfer before you arrive. Save your accommodation address in a form you can show the driver.
For long mountain journeys, leave the day flexible and avoid placing a fixed onward booking immediately afterwards. If a vehicle or arrangement does not feel suitable, use another available operator or a prearranged transfer.
