The Magic of Lake Ohrid

Lake Ohrid is one of the oldest and deepest tectonic lakes in the world, sharing a UNESCO-protected basin between North Macedonia and Albania. It offers crystal-clear freshwater swimming, ancient Byzantine culture, and daily costs under €35.

Finding Sobe (Private Rooms)

Upon stepping off the bus or walking the Varosh old town streets, you will see blue signs reading Sobe / Zimmer / Rooms. These are clean private guest rooms in family homes, typically costing €15 to €25 per night with private balconies and lake views.

  1. Church of Saint John at Kaneo: The iconic cliffside church overlooking the lake. Entry to see the 13th-century frescoes is 150 MKD (€2.50). The exterior cliff viewpoint is completely free.

Boat Trip to Saint Naum Monastery
