Collecting Official Microstate Stamps

Because European microstates have open border treaties with their neighbors (France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland), routine border control checkpoints do not stamp passports. However, official tourist offices offer commemorative souvenir stamps for collectors.

Where to Get Official Tourist Stamps

  • San Marino: Tourist Information Office at Contrada Omagnano (€5.00). Features the official state seal and revenue stamp.
  • Liechtenstein: Liechtenstein Center in central Vaduz (CHF 3.00 / €3.00). Official red crown crest stamp.
  • Andorra: Tourist Information Office on Plaza de la Rotonda in Andorra la Vella (Completely Free upon request).
  • Monaco: Official Tourism Office at 2 Boulevard des Moulins (Free upon presentation of passport).

Important Caution for Travelers

Some national passport agencies (notably the UK, US, and Australia) officially warn that unofficial or souvenir stamps can technically invalidate a passport. If concerned, request the stamp in a small travel notebook or souvenir certificate instead of your official passport pages.
