Getting to Milan from its three airports
Choose the right transfer from Malpensa, Linate or Bergamo, with current train and metro prices and advice on the final journey to your room.
Check the airport code on your booking before planning a Milan transfer. Malpensa is MXP, Linate is LIN and Bergamo is BGY. The route that works well from one may be completely wrong for another.
Also check your accommodation address. Milano Centrale is a useful railway hub, but it is not the best arrival point for every room in the city.
Malpensa for the airport train
The Malpensa Express fare page lists an ordinary adult journey between Malpensa and a Milan station at €15.
Choose the service and city station carefully. The airport trains serve routes towards Centrale and Cadorna; compare the onward metro ride or walk from each. Check whether your flight uses Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 before buying the return journey.
The operator also sells return and family products. Read their date, passenger and refund rules before deciding that a headline saving suits your booking.
Linate for the metro
Metro M4 connects Linate with the city. ATM's M4 guide lists the €2.20 Mi1–Mi3 ticket, valid for 90 minutes, among the accepted tickets. The fare was checked on 8 September 2026.
San Babila can be useful for central Milan and a change to M1. Other M4 stops may suit your address better. Look at the whole route before automatically aiming for Centrale.
Follow the ticket or contactless instructions when changing lines. Some connections involve leaving one set of gates and entering another; keep the same valid ticket or payment method ready.
Bergamo for a bus connection
The airport's bus page lists coaches to Milano Centrale and a local bus to Bergamo railway station. Compare the departure time, final stop and ticket conditions for the operator you choose.
A bus to Bergamo station followed by a train is a different journey from a direct coach to Milan. Include both tickets and the time to change when comparing them.
Road traffic can affect the coach ride. Leave a comfortable margin on the way back to the airport, especially if the flight and transfer are separate bookings.
Use our Milan accommodation guide to match your airport route with a suitable neighbourhood. A cheap flight can lose some of its saving if it creates a difficult arrival or an expensive early-morning return.
The Milan guide helps compare airport arrivals with the area where you want to stay.
