How European hotel prices change through the year
Use the month as a starting point, then check the city's events, weekday demand and the actual room conditions before booking.
There is no reliable Europe-wide hotel price calendar. The same week can be quiet in a beach resort and expensive in a ski village or conference city. Use the month to spot questions worth checking, then compare real offers.

These are possible demand drivers, not predictions that every hotel will raise its rates. Check the event itself. The Cannes festival calendar and Colmar's Christmas programme show why a particular set of dates can matter much more than a broad season.
Compare like with like
Look at the same room type, number of guests, breakfast, taxes and cancellation terms. A cheaper non-refundable room is not the same offer as a flexible booking. Check whether the lower price requires arriving late, changing hotels or staying farther from your activities.
Compare at least one weekday and one weekend option if your plans allow. Business demand can make weekdays expensive, while leisure destinations may peak at weekends. Neither pattern applies everywhere.
