Work out both the outward and return connections; a bus to a nearby town is not the full approach to the site. If access or weather does not fit, choose Bermeo alone or another Bilbao day.

San Sebastián, Spain A suitable direct coach takes about 1¼–1½ hours from Bilbao. Check the booked stations, leave your bags at the new room and walk part of La Concha. Euskotren E1 is a slower alternative arriving at Amara, a different station from the main-line railway.

Day 5Old-town walk and a considered food budget
