Passenger rights: find the right help
Start with the type of journey and what went wrong. A refund, a replacement journey, care while waiting and compensation are different things. Read the rules for your booking before choosing between them.
What to have ready
- The operating company, travel date and booking reference.
- The route and whether connections were sold together or separately.
- The planned and actual arrival times, where relevant.
- Any offer of a refund, replacement journey, meals or accommodation.
- Receipts and the company’s written reply.
Check which rules cover the trip
European destinations do not all use identical passenger-rights rules. The departure point, arrival point and operator can matter. Your Europe explains the EU rules and provides ways to check a specific problem. For a journey outside that scope, use the relevant national regulator and the operator’s conditions.
Make a clear request
Explain what you booked, what happened and what you want the company to do. Attach copies of relevant records and keep the originals. You do not need to start by choosing a paid claims service.
