The CP Promo Fare Rule

CP releases promotional tickets (marked Bilhete Promo) on long-distance trains:

• Booking Window: Promo fares appear between 5 and 8 days before departure (and up to 30 days early).
• Fares: Alfa Pendular high-speed tickets between Lisbon and Porto drop from standard €33 down to €15.00. Lisbon to Faro in the Algarve drops from €23 to €9.50.
• How to Book: Use only the official portal at cp.pt or the official CP mobile app. Third-party aggregators do not reliably display the promo discount.

How to Handle Rail Strikes (Greves)

Portuguese rail unions occasionally call 24-hour partial strikes. Under Portuguese law, CP must operate mandatory minimum services (serviços mínimos), which typically guarantees 25% to 30% of scheduled passenger trains. Check the CP website alert banner 48 hours prior for the list of guaranteed operating trains.
