Cyprus Buses: City Routes, Intercity Fares & Airports
Choose the right Cyprus bus and ticket, with current intercity singles, separate urban fares, airport stops and practical advice for changing services.
Cyprus buses are easier to use once you separate three jobs: travelling within a city, travelling between cities and reaching an airport. A ticket for one of those jobs does not automatically cover the others. Start with the complete journey from your room to the place you want to visit.
Intercity fares and journey times
Intercity Buses publishes these adult cash singles: Larnaca–Nicosia €5, Larnaca–Limassol €5, Limassol–Paphos €5, Larnaca–Ayia Napa/Paralimni €5 and Nicosia–Limassol €6. The direct Paphos–Larnaca service is €10 and has a much more limited timetable. Carry cash for the driver.
The operator's approximate whole-route times are 75 minutes for Larnaca–Nicosia, 90 for Larnaca–Limassol, 75 for Limassol–Paphos and 105 for Nicosia–Limassol. Larnaca–Ayia Napa–Paralimni is about 75 minutes for the complete route; an Ayia Napa stop is before its Paralimni end. Add waiting and local travel rather than using these as hotel-to-hotel times.
Check the stop list carefully. Current Larnaca route pages name Nikolaidis Building as the starting point for departure times. Limassol's New Port is different from the Old Port by the castle. Local fares depend on the operator
In Nicosia and Larnaca, CPT's ordinary daytime cash single is €2.70 and its night cash single is €4.70. A plastic Motion card has its own issue cost and lower ride price. Compare the complete cost before buying one for a short stay.
EMEL in Limassol, OSEA around Ayia Napa and Pafos Buses each publish a €2 ordinary daytime single and a €3 night single. Their day products differ: EMEL and OSEA list €6, while Pafos Buses lists €6.50. Read the product's coverage and validity before assuming it will pay for an intercity or airport shuttle ride.
Buy a multi-ride product only after checking where it is sold and which routes accept it. Intercity return products may require a ticket outlet; the driver's cash single is the straightforward option for an occasional journey. Do not assume every kind of Motion ticket is available on every bus.
Airports need their own stop check
Larnaca Airport has CPT bus 425 for the Larnaca area. Paphos Airport's 612 serves Tombs of the Kings station through the coastal area; 613 serves Karavella. Choose according to your address instead of automatically heading for the harbour.
Kapnos airport shuttles and Limassol Airport Express are separate services. The Nicosia Kapnos station is on Kyrenias Avenue, not at Solomos Square. Limassol Airport Express advertises €10 adult travel on its airport services; check which airport and city stop your departure serves.
Leave a margin when changing buses
A missed connection can cost more time than a short extra ride. Save the next departure as well as the one you prefer, keep small cash handy and check the last useful return before going out. Do not put a limited direct Paphos–Larnaca bus just before a flight; return the previous evening if the schedule is tight.
For the mountains, use the Troodos guide to distinguish the bus stop from the trailhead. For a multi-city visit, the six-day itinerary separates rooms, sightseeing and transport so tickets are counted once.
