Start with the old centre

The castle area and Molos make an easy pairing for a first day. Visit the medieval museum inside the castle while you have energy for the rooms, then leave the waterfront for an unhurried walk. Adult admission to the castle museum is €4.50. If the collection is not your interest, enjoy the surrounding streets and spend the time elsewhere.

The old port and marina sit near this part of town, but “Limassol seafront” also includes a much longer stretch of hotels to the east. A room on the coast is not necessarily a short walk from the castle. Decide whether your priority is the old centre or time near your hotel beach before comparing prices.

Use the right bus network

EMEL handles local journeys, while the green Intercity Buses services connect towns. An EMEL daytime single is €2; a local day ticket is €6. Three ordinary daytime rides therefore cost the same as that day ticket, while a fourth makes the pass more useful. Check whether your planned rides fall within its validity rather than buying a pass just because you are staying several nights.

For Paphos, the intercity operator gives an approximate journey of an hour and a quarter, with time needed at each end to reach your actual address. For Larnaca, use the correct direction's stop list. The new port is not the old port, and the place where a coach starts is not necessarily the most convenient stop for your room.

Arrive without an unnecessary detour

Limassol Airport Express links both Larnaca and Paphos airports with Limassol. Its standard adult fare is €10. The Larnaca service also has a stop opposite St Raphael Hotel on the tourist coast. Use the operator's stop map and current timetable to choose the right one; a transfer to a fixed stop does not include a taxi to every hotel.

If the shuttle timing does not suit your flight, compare the full alternative journey before choosing a cheaper flight or a distant room. The useful price is the combined cost of arrival and stay.

Make the mountains a separate outing

EMEL route 64 links Limassol with Platres and Troodos. That makes a mountain visit possible by bus, but the return timetable should shape the walk you choose. Troodos Square and the lower Kalidonia trailhead are not the same stop. Read the Troodos guide and choose one walk rather than trying to add several villages between buses.

Keep the local spending allowance and intercity tickets separate. Replace the attraction allowance with actual admissions when you decide what to visit, and count a shared room once for the party.
