This plan starts in Brussels, spends the second day in Leuven, continues to Ghent and finishes in Bruges. It suits travellers who enjoy moving on and can keep luggage light. Beer can be part of the evenings, but none of the days depends on drinking. The walks, university buildings and museums give the trip plenty of shape on their own.
For the plan as written, book one night each in Brussels, Leuven and Ghent. The fourth day ends in Bruges. Add a Bruges night if you want an evening there or cannot reach your next destination comfortably. If arriving late on day one, add a Brussels night before starting rather than squeezing the first day into a tired evening.
Brussels to Leuven takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes by direct train. Leuven to Gent-Sint-Pieters is about an hour on a suitable direct service. Ghent to Bruges is roughly 25 minutes on a suitable train. These are train-time guides, so add the walk or local transport at each end. In Ghent, the main station is outside the old centre.

Pick one paid visit that matters in each city, rather than filling every gap. In Leuven, the Town Hall is closed for restoration; use the library or a museum for an indoor visit. In Ghent, choose the castle or the altarpiece if time is short. In Bruges, check the Belfry's steps and ticket availability before deciding to climb.
For a brewery tour, check the brewery's own calendar and booking conditions before arranging the day around it. A café stop is easier to keep flexible. If travelling with children or people who do not drink, plan meals and other visits first and make any beer stop optional.
Stay two nights in Brussels and visit Leuven on day two, then use Ghent for the third night and visit Bruges on day four. This adds a return journey from Leuven but removes one hotel move. With only three days, drop Leuven and give Brussels, Ghent and Bruges a day each.
