Bergen makes a good base for harbour walks, a mountain viewpoint and a fjord journey. Give the city a day of its own before heading to Flåm, and keep the hill visit flexible enough to use a clear spell.

Give the harbour a morning of its own
Start around Bryggen before deciding how much more to fit into the day. The old wharf has public lanes, working businesses and museum spaces. Enjoy the outside streets without assuming every doorway is free to enter. Pair the walk with a café or one indoor visit instead of crossing the centre repeatedly.
The fish market is convenient, but convenience is part of what you pay for. Read the menu and portion description before ordering. You can choose one seafood meal here and use a supermarket lunch on another day without turning every food decision into a search for the lowest price.
Pick the Fløyen visit around the weather
Look at visibility before buying a mountain outing. On a clear day, take Fløibanen up and leave time to walk around the top. If you plan to walk down, buy a one-way ticket and check that the path suits the conditions and your knees. A downhill walk is still a walk, particularly with wet paving or ice.
For April–September, the ordinary adult return is NOK 200 through the website, app or ticket machine, or NOK 220 at the staffed counter. A one-way ticket through the first three channels is NOK 105. October–March adult prices are NOK 145 return and NOK 80 one way. These are different products and seasons; compare the ticket for your actual day. A return is sensible if you want to keep the descent flexible.
If the hill is in cloud, swap the outing with time around the harbour. Avoid making a non-refundable fjord booking and a mountain visit compete for the same short clear-weather window.
Arrive on the right airport service
Skyss light rail line 1 runs between the airport and Byparken. Buy a valid ticket before boarding; there is no on-board light-rail sale. The normal adult Zone A single is NOK 51. A NOK 136 day ticket can make sense with several local rides: three undiscounted singles would be NOK 153. App discounts can change that comparison.
The light rail and the airport express bus have different tickets. Compare the stop closest to your room and the travel time shown for your arrival. Neither service removes the final walk to an uphill address. Save a map of that walk before leaving the terminal.
Give Flåm a separate travel day
For Bergen to Flåm, the railway connection is at Myrdal. The Oslo–Bergen main line does not pass through Flåm itself. Book the connecting trains together where possible, then decide whether you are staying in Flåm or returning that day before adding a fjord cruise.
An overnight stay gives you more room for the railway and boat without chasing the final connection. The seven-day Norway plan includes a clear Flåm overnight and return to Bergen. For a different west-coast trip, Stavanger has a through coach with ferry crossings included.

Stay around the centre for walking, or near the bus station and light rail for straightforward arrivals. Check the climb to hillside accommodation with your luggage; a short distance on the map can still mean steps.
Getting Around
Skyss line 1 links Bergen Airport with Byparken. The ordinary adult one-zone fare is NOK 51 and a one-zone 24-hour ticket is NOK 136. Buy before boarding the light rail; airport express buses have separate fares.

Bryggen’s public lanes and the harbour make a good walk without a tour. Walking to Fløyen is another option when the route, weather and your mobility suit it; you still need time and suitable shoes.
