Day 3Utrecht canals and Domplein

Leave your bags before walking towards the Oudegracht. Choose a Domplein visit that suits your interests and access needs, then leave time for lunch beside the canal or on a nearby street. Day 4Rotterdam centre and riverfront
RotterdamContinue from Utrecht to Rotterdam Centraal and check the train in the NS planner before leaving. After dropping your bags, explore around Blaak, with the Cube Houses, Old Harbour and Markthal close enough to combine. A snack stop does not have to become a full lunch if you would rather eat elsewhere. Leave a separate part of the afternoon for the riverfront, using local transport when the walk feels too long. Sleep in Rotterdam.

Day 5The Hague with a flexible art stop
The HagueTake a suitable train to The Hague and choose your arrival station around the first visit. Walk near the Hofvijver and Lange Voorhout, then have lunch without adding another distant stop too soon. The Mauritshuis is closed through 20 September 2026, and Girl with a Pearl Earring is away through 4 October. Check the Prince William V Gallery as an alternative and visit the free Binnenhof renovation information centre. Sleep in The Hague or return to your Rotterdam base.

Day 6Delft canals and an optional church visit

Walk towards Markt, then choose the church interiors or a tower climb after checking the separate tickets and the weather. Spend the afternoon on the canals and smaller streets, with Oostpoort as an optional extension. Ask about the maker and production method before buying pottery. Six days from Amsterdam to Delft
This trip visits Amsterdam, Haarlem, Utrecht, Rotterdam, The Hague and Delft in that order. It ends in Delft, rather than returning to Amsterdam. The rail distances are short, but six cities in six days still means a busy week. It suits light luggage and one main visit each day. Add an Amsterdam day if you want two major museums or arrive late on day one.
The day-by-day version uses overnight stops in the first five cities, with an optional final night in Delft. Before booking, check whether each room can store your bags before check-in. Small hotels may have stairs or limited reception hours.
Keep two bases if you prefer less packing
Stay in Amsterdam for the first three nights, visiting Haarlem on day two and Utrecht on day three. Move to Rotterdam on day four and keep the room for two nights. Visit The Hague on day five, then Delft on day six. Return trains replace some hotel changes, so compare both the fares and the time before choosing this version.

Check these visits before fixing the dates
Book your main Amsterdam museum first. In Haarlem, check the church's opening day and the windmill's access rules. Utrecht's tower is a stair climb, so choose a different indoor stop if that does not suit you.
In The Hague, the Mauritshuis is closed through 20 September 2026 and Girl with a Pearl Earring is away through 4 October. The Prince William V Gallery offers another art option, subject to its opening calendar. Around the Binnenhof, use the public streets and renovation information centre. Delft's church and tower tickets are separate unless you buy the combined option. Keep the climb optional in bad weather. From Delft, plan the whole onward trip to the airport or Brussels, choosing the actual connection from Delft rather than using an Amsterdam departure time.

Take an NS train from Haarlem to Utrecht Centraal, usually with one change. Use the NS planner for the connecting station and platform. Utrecht Centraal opens straight onto the city centre, making this an easy move between bases.
