Build the budget from nights and days
The day figures add up to €1,591.00 for one traveller before the extra costs below. Day notes show accommodation, meals, local travel and small extras. The private-room line buys the whole room; divide only that part when sharing. The Italy and Vatican outing figures use chosen allowances; other-country day amounts remain as previously listed. The final day has no extra overnight allowance in the Italian section.
Add paid visits, excursions, intercity tickets and airport travel. Replace the stay amount with the full booking cost, including taxes and cleaning. The city budget cards are an alternative way to plan the same days, so do not add them on top of this subtotal.
Choose the Monaco neighbourhoods
Use Monaco-Ville for the old town or Monte-Carlo and Larvotto for the square and seafront. Keep your Nice room and check both rail directions before staying late.
Price the Monaco outing before continuing east
The official TER page lists €6.10 for an ordinary full-fare one-way Nice to Monaco journey. Check the current route guide, buy the return that fits and keep the same Nice room. A Monaco bus is a separate local journey.
France's short-stay visa arrangements also cover Monaco. The visit does not restart a Schengen stay allowance. This matters because the itinerary continues through France and Italy rather than leaving the wider stay area for a new allowance.

Day 3: Monaco to Genoa
Train · Allow about 3–4 hours
Travel east from Monaco to Ventimiglia and change for an Italian train to Genova. Check Piazza Principe versus Brignole and the current works on both sides of the border.
Day 4: Genoa to Cinque Terre
Train · About 1h 35m
Check whether the chosen service is direct and which Genoa station it uses. The other villages may require a local train. A Cinque Terre card does not cover the full journey from Genoa; choose its start date only for the local travel and paths you will use.

Train · About 1½–2 hours
Travel from Firenze Santa Maria Novella to the Rome station on your booking. Termini and Tiburtina have different last journeys to your room; compare the complete trip.

Skip Genoa and travel directly from Nice to Cinque Terre, or end in Florence without continuing to Rome.
