A first San Marino visit from Rimini

Build a first San Marino visit around the bus and a manageable hilltop walk. The country is small, but the journey from the Italian railway and the climb into the old centre still take time. One tower, the main squares and a proper lunch make a useful first day.

Find the right international bus

The Bonelli and Benedettini service runs from Rimini railway station to San Marino's Ex Stazione, Park 2 Bus. A full single costs €7; the published ride takes about 55 minutes. Read the operator's current timetable and stop map before booking a connecting train.

The ticket is for the selected departure. Booking guarantees carriage, not a seat, and the return needs its own plan. Save the tickets offline and leave room for the walk between the railway platform and bus stop.

Give the upper town time

From the terminus, head into the historic centre, look around Piazza della Libertà and decide which tower or museum to visit. The historic-centre guide explains the €11 museum circuit and the current Palazzo Pubblico closure. Outdoor squares and paid interiors are separate choices.

If you arrive late, reduce the visit rather than taking a tight last bus. A room in San Marino or Borgo Maggiore may be a better fit when you want an evening meal without watching the return timetable.

Add the lower town on a longer visit

Keep Montegiardino for an extra village outing with booked transport. It is not a necessary detour before a Rimini train. Carry the documents needed for your wider Italy journey and use a notebook for souvenir stamps.
