Where to stay in Split on a budget
Compare Varoš, Bačvice and Radunica for a Split stay, including steps, beach access, ferries and the route to your accommodation.
Split’s compact centre can make accommodation look easier on a map than it is with luggage. Steps, narrow lanes and the exact ferry departure point can all affect your choice.
Varoš, Bačvice and Radunica are useful areas to compare. Start with the kind of trip you want, then check the entrance route to the actual room.

Varoš for old lanes and Marjan
Varoš sits to the west of the historic centre, with older streets rising towards Marjan. It can suit travellers who want to spend time walking in that direction as well as around the palace.
Do not assume the whole area is flat. A lower address near the waterfront differs from one farther uphill. Ask the host for the walking route from a taxi drop-off or bus stop, including steps.

Bačvice for beach time
Bačvice makes sense if you want regular time by the sea. Its main beach has a sandy section and is close enough to the centre to combine swimming with sightseeing.
Beach proximity can also mean busy surroundings in the evening. Check the bedroom’s position and recent comments about noise. “Near Bačvice” may describe anything from a beachfront property to a room several streets inland.

Radunica for a small-street base
Radunica and nearby Lučac put you east of the palace area. They may be convenient for walking towards the transport waterfront, depending on the address.
Narrow streets can limit vehicle access. Confirm where you collect keys, especially for a late arrival, and ask whether someone meets you at the property.
For an island departure, check the operator and berth. Split’s port area contains several boarding points, and reaching the waterfront is not the same as reaching your boat. Use Jadrolinija for its routes, or the named operator on your ticket.
Match your room to the arrival stop
The main coach station and ferry port are close together. Promet's local airport bus 37 uses Sukoišan, a different city terminus. A room described as “near the bus station” needs to name which one. Use the Split guide to compare the airport options before asking the host for directions.
