Andalusia in spring: festivals, rooms and route planning

An Andalusia spring trip works best when you decide what the celebrations mean for your journey. Going for a festival and going for ordinary city sightseeing are different plans. Choose the dates, rooms and moving days together rather than assuming any week before summer will be quiet or inexpensive.

Choose whether the festival is the point of the stay

Use Seville's official Feria page for the year you intend to visit. Many casetas are private; public casetas give visitors a way to take part without an invitation. A hotel close to the fair and a hotel convenient for the historic centre may serve different priorities.

For Semana Santa, check the current programme through Seville's tourist office. Ask your accommodation about the final approach with bags when a procession is expected nearby. A street route that works on an ordinary day may not be the sensible arrival route during an event.

If the celebrations are not important to you, compare dates outside them. Do not rely on a universal hotel-price multiplier. Compare the same room type, number of nights, taxes and cancellation conditions on your actual dates.

Check the essential admission before fixing every room

If the Nasrid Palaces are the main reason for going to Granada, first check a suitable Alhambra General ticket. Its official listed price is €22.27; it includes the palaces at the booked time. Other products do not necessarily include them. The original identity document required by the ticket must match the visitor's booking details.

In Seville, the Alcázar's visitor page lists €15.50 for general admission, with the upper royal rooms a separate choice. In Córdoba, ordinary Mosque-Cathedral admission is €15. These are individual admission products, not the total cost of a sightseeing day. Check the official checkout and any eligibility rules before paying.

Put the most important timed entry on a day when you are already in the city. If the only available Alhambra time makes your departure rushed, change the overnight plan rather than assuming you can enter the palaces later.

Compare the whole spring-trip budget

Make separate lines for accommodation, intercity tickets, airport journeys, daily food and local travel, and paid visits. Add the bags and seat choices you actually need when comparing train fares. A lower room rate in another city may lose its advantage if it creates an extra return journey.

The seven-day Madrid and Andalusia plan has six nights and a €463 daily-spending subtotal before admissions and extra journeys. The ten-day Andalusia plan has nine nights and a €653 subtotal on the same basis. They are editorial allowances to replace with your bookings, not package offers or a promise of spring prices.

Keep blossom and weather out of the critical path

Orange blossom is a possible bonus, not something a short stay can guarantee. Choose gardens, streets and interiors you would still enjoy if flowering is early or late. In Córdoba, use the current local patio programme rather than expecting private courtyards to stay open throughout spring.

Check AEMET's weather warnings near departure and during the trip. Coastal weather does not settle conditions for an inland walk. Leave a part of the day that can become a shaded lunch, indoor visit or rest when needed.

Pick a route with room to change

For both Seville and Granada, put the journey between them between your main visits. For a Córdoba stay, use Madrid–Córdoba or Seville–Córdoba according to the route you are actually taking.

If there are too few nights, choose Seville or Granada rather than adding another hotel move for one hurried visit. Save the dated event programmes and booking confirmations, and leave the smaller walks and meals flexible.
