Plovdiv → Burgas
TrainA suitable direct train takes about four hours from Plovdiv to Burgas. Keep the travel block clear and plan a short waterfront walk after reaching your room.
Varna → Burgas
BusA coach is a straightforward way to change coastal bases. Compare the departure with your hotel checkout and leave time for traffic before a separate onward journey.
Choose the service that reaches the part of Nessebar you want. The Old Town and New Town buses take different approaches, so read the route before boarding.
Athens → Thessaloniki
TrainThe train keeps the journey between city stations. A flight can suit an airport connection, but compare the whole trip with baggage and transfers included.
Compare the direct coach with the train-and-replacement-bus connection. Both need careful arrival planning before a monastery visit.
Athens → Nafplio
BusThe direct KTEL coach is a straightforward way to reach Nafplio without a car. Budget for the journey across Athens to Kifisos as well as the coach ticket.
Athens → Delphi
BusUse the KTEL Fokidas coach and give Delphi enough time for the sanctuary and museum. The bus departure point is different from the Nafplio service.
Athens → Santorini
FerryChoose between a Piraeus ferry and an ATH–JTR flight using the full travel day. Santorini’s ferry port and airport have different onward transfers.
Athens → Mykonos
FerryRafina and Piraeus are different starting points. Compare the transfer to the port and the sailing together before deciding which ferry is more convenient.
Compare an overnight ferry with a flight using the comfort and arrival time you need. A deck ticket should not be counted as a private room.
Athens → Crete / Chania
FerryThe Chania ferry arrives at Souda, outside the old town. Choose the overnight ticket for the comfort you need and plan the morning transfer before sailing.
Athens → Rhodes
FlightA flight usually leaves more of a short holiday for Rhodes. The ferry can suit travellers who want the sea journey, but it needs a proper overnight plan.
Athens → Naxos
FerryUse a Piraeus ferry and leave time for the port at both ends. Choose a sailing that gives you a comfortable arrival in Naxos rather than the lowest fare alone.
Santorini → Mykonos
FerryCheck the direct seasonal sailing first. The journey can stay on one ship even when it calls at other islands, and both ports need local transfers.
Santorini → Naxos
FerryThis can be a manageable island move when a suitable sailing runs. Keep the port transfers visible and choose the actual boat before fixing the day’s activities.
Use the seasonal direct ferry when its date and arrival suit the trip. It arrives at Heraklion, so a stay in Chania needs an additional journey across Crete.
The intercity coach is a practical way to change base across northern Crete. Check regular versus express stops and the exact Heraklion departure station.
Use the Intercity bus and allow about 75 minutes for the complete route. Carry €5 for an adult cash single and check the stop nearest your plans. Airport shuttles use a separate system.
Take the Intercity bus for an adult cash single of €5. Allow about 90 minutes for the whole route and choose a Limassol stop near your address; New Port and Old Port are different places.
The Intercity bus costs €5 for an adult cash single and takes about 75 minutes for the complete route. Paphos arrivals use Pervola–Karavella, with a further local trip to many coastal hotels.
An adult Intercity cash single is €5. The complete Larnaca–Ayia Napa–Paralimni route is about 75 minutes; your Ayia Napa stop comes before the final terminus. Check the stop closest to your hotel.
Valletta → Sliema
FerryUse the scheduled harbour ferry between Marsamxett in Valletta and Sliema Ferries on The Strand when those landing points fit your day. The published operator fare and the regulator tariff currently differ, so check the ticket displayed at boarding. Allow for the walk to each landing place and for waiting rather than treating the approximate five-minute sea leg as a complete city journey.
Choose between the passenger-only Gozo Highspeed from Valletta and the conventional Gozo Channel crossing from Ċirkewwa according to your starting point, luggage and return plan. Highspeed's €7.50 adult fare is one way to Mġarr and its sea leg is about 45 minutes; Gozo Channel's ordinary visitor fare is €4.65 for a round-trip ticket and its crossing is about 25 minutes. Both products end at Mġarr, so Victoria requires a separate Gozo bus or taxi leg.
Istanbul → Ankara
TrainThe direct YHT is usually the simplest city-to-city choice. Select the Istanbul station before buying because Söğütlüçeşme, Bostancı, Pendik, Bakırköy and Halkalı do not suit every address equally.
