Oslo → Stavanger
TrainThe Sørland-line train takes about eight hours. Choose a day train for the landscape or compare proper sleeping accommodation on a night departure; keep the ticket conditions in view.
Oslo → Flåm & Aurland
TrainTake the Bergen-line train from Oslo to Myrdal, then change onto the Flåm Railway. Vy describes the complete trip as about six to eight hours, depending on the connection.
Oslo → Ålesund
TrainFor a scenic surface journey, take the Dovre train to Dombås, the Rauma train to Åndalsnes and a FRAM bus to Ålesund. This needs two changes and most of a travel day; compare the complete dated connection.
Compare the coastal bus connection through Molde with the rail route through Dombås and Åndalsnes. FRAM routes 905 and 100 provide the bus corridor; use a complete dated search for changes and waits.
A direct flight from Oslo takes about 1 hour 50 minutes in the air. Add both airport journeys, check-in and luggage time; Tromsø has no railway station.
Use Svipper route 100 towards Narvik, then a suitable Reis Nordland connection on route 300 into Lofoten. Search the whole journey for your date and exact village; this is a full travel day with a change.
Selfoss is about an hour from Reykjavík by the direct road in good conditions. A day visiting Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss is a much longer circuit; allow the whole day and finish near your booked room.
From a Selfoss base, allow about two hours of driving to Vík in good conditions, plus your waterfall visits and meal stops. A Flúðir or Laugarvatn address changes the approach.
Allow about three hours of driving from Vík to Reykjavík in good conditions, with extra time for stops. Return west before departure day when possible; Keflavík is a further journey beyond the city.
Give Vík–Höfn a full day: roughly four hours of basic driving in good conditions, plus Skaftafell or Jökulsárlón and meal stops. A long hike and a booked glacier activity may need an extra night.
Follow the main Route 1 coastal journey towards Egilsstaðir and allow around four hours of driving plus breaks. Keep mountain-road shortcuts out of the plan unless their access and your rental permission have been checked.
Allow about two and a half hours for the basic drive to Reykjahlíð in good conditions. Add any waterfall detour separately, and arrive with time for a short first outing around Mývatn.
Allow about an hour and a half for the basic drive from Reykjahlíð to Akureyri. Add a Goðafoss stop separately and check the Vaðlaheiði tunnel payment if your route uses it.
Allow roughly five and a half hours of driving in good conditions, plus breaks. Use a final night in Reykjavík before a Keflavík flight instead of relying on this long stage on departure day.
Compare a full road day, route 57’s roughly six-hour bus journey and a domestic flight from Reykjavík Airport. Include airport access and rental return terms when comparing the complete trip.
The basic drive to Stykkishólmur takes about two and a half hours in good conditions. A circuit around Snæfellsnes adds substantial distance and stops; give the peninsula its own overnight stay.
From Stykkishólmur, allow around two and a half hours of basic driving to Reykjavík, plus stops. Starting on the peninsula’s southern or western side changes the journey; keep flight-day timing separate.
Use LIEmobil line 21 from Vaduz Post to Triesenberg Dorfzentrum. Allow about 12 minutes on a through bus; the full-price adult single is CHF 4.
Use LIEmobil line 21 from Triesenberg Dorfzentrum to Malbun Zentrum. Allow about 17 minutes on a through bus; the full-price adult single is CHF 4.
Take L4 towards Pas de la Casa and get off in Canillo or Soldeu. L3 adds services but has timetable gaps and no Sunday operation. The Canillo map point is an orientation marker, not the end of every journey in this regional guide.
Take L6 towards Andorra la Vella and change at Central de FEDA for L4 towards Canillo and Soldeu. This avoids travelling all the way into the capital. Check both directional stops and the transfer before leaving.
Use CAM line 2 towards Monaco-Ville, then walk through the old-town lanes. Choose the current stop and departure.
Check CAM line 5 and the stop for Casino Square or Larvotto. These are different destinations along a local journey.
Borgo Maggiore → San Marino
Cable carTake the cable car from Borgo to the upper town. Standard adult single €4, return €7; check seasonal closing and current operation.
